Mono Lake, California
Mono Lake is at the eastern edge of the Sierra Nevada, where the mountains
meet the valley below. The lake is best-known for its unique, other-worldly
Tufa Towers, which are made of salt. Also, while I was there a wildfilre raged
in the forest-covered hills above the lake. Depending on the time of day
and where the smoke happened to be drifting at any given moment,
the overall color of any particular part of the lake could be anywhere
from blue-ish to freakishly orange, or even both at the same time.
