This is a small tree and granite boulder protruding from Watson Lake.
The sapling is in sunlight but the rock is in shade.
The camera's white balance ("color balance") was set for sunlight,
causing the sun-lit tree to appear as its true color but causing the
shaded rock to turn blue (in other words, if you take a photo in the shade
but tell your camera you're in sunlight you'll get unnaturally blue colors, and
that's what happened, but only to the bottom half of the image)
The half-sunny, half-shaded photo looked like this when it was taken.
