From I-40 (Route 66) in northern Arizona, the vast expanse of high desert between

Flagstaff and Winslow doesn't look like much, but the subtle landscape is full of grass,

tumbleweeds, low sandstone formations, and running herds of antelope that all change

direction at once, like flocks of birds. If you like wide open spaces it's a wonderful

place to just wander to your heart's content. The photos on this page happen

to have been taken in the general vicinity of Meteor Crater, but that's

incidental and I didn't actually venture to the rim of that giant hole.
