Standard Frames,
Mats & Prints

Example of a photograph in a standard
frame
This one happens to be 20 x 16 inches
Standard Frames
For standard-size frames, I
use Aaron Brothers Signature
frames. They're simple yet elegant, they all match each other, and they go with
just about any style of home
or office. They are made of hardwoods
and finished with high-quality stains and lacquers. And unlike
the custom-framed photographs I use in galleries and exhibitions, these standard-size frames
make my work highly affordable.
Every frame is about
three-quarters of an inch thick with "squared off" corners (no bevels or rounded
edges).
You can choose between the colors of
Black
and
Rosewood
(actually, Aaron Brothers calls its dark red frame "Espresso," but I don't think
it looks anything like coffee so I call it Rosewood).

Most of my photos look best with black. However, some photos with lots of red
or orange in them look good with a Rosewood-colored frame. The "Rosewood" frames are not actually made of
Rosewood; they are just the color of Rosewood.
The photo and mat are under glass.
The frames have clips on the back
that allow you to remove the back, and thus remove the photo, mat and glass if
you like.
The frames have sawtooth hangers on the
back (as opposed to wire hangers).
I do NOT sell frames without my
photographs in them. If you want a frame only, please go to a frame shop.
Prints
Because there is roughly 2.5 to 3
inches of mat around each photo, the prints are a bit smaller than the frames.
The exact size of prints varies because the dimensions (width in relation to
height) varies, but following is an approximation of print sizes:

Prints
(just the print, not the frame) up to 18.5 inches are printed on Epson
Premium Luster photo paper. This high-quality, archival paper is neither matte nor
glossy, but somewhere in between. It has a rich textured surface (luster) with a
slight sheen to it, but not so shiny that it is overly reflective (like glossy
can sometimes be). I think Luster paper looks better than matte or glossy, and
it's what I use for my own prints when I show them in galleries and exhibitions.
Photos larger
than 18.5 inches (for those who are buying prints only) are printed on Fuji
Crystal Archival Paper with a luster finish. This is a resin-based paper known
for its unmatched archival quality. It has long been considered the finest color
photographic paper available and is the choice of professional photographers and
commercial labs.

the photo you purchase.
Mats Used in Standard
Frames
All mats are white.
Depending on the size of your
photo, there will be roughly 2.5 to 3 inches of mat around it.
I sign every mat in pencil, just
beneath the bottom right corner of the print.
I rarely crop my photos to standard
sizes because I believe that can compromise their artistic integrity. For
example, if I think a
photo looks best at 7 x 10, then I will crop it at 7 x 10 rather than the
standard size of 8 x 10. This means that many of my photos are not 100 percent
proportional to standard-size frames. However, I cut my own mats, and I center
every photo in the middle of the mat. In some cases there may be slightly more
matting on the left and right of a photo than the top or bottom (or vice-versa),
but when everything is centered in the mat and frame it's hardly noticeable. In fact, it
looks great!
