These photographs show various southern Arizona ranges as seen from high in the Santa Catalina Mts. Most were taken at around 6,500 feet. They include the Rincon, Santa Rita and Tucson Mts. as well as the more distant Quinlan, Galiuro and Pinaleno Mts., among others. The somewhat surreal look – with little detail but lots of elegant simplicity – is created by backlighting (shooting into the sun), and by tight framing on what are actually small segments of distant ranges. Some of these are also twilight shots with very long exposures. Nature photography and landscape photography of the Southwest by Dave Wilson.
