True sand dunes are rare in Arizona, but they can be found in certain
wind-swept regions of the high desert in the northern part of the state.
All the dunes on this page are in obscure places north of the Little Colorado
River and south of Lake Powell. Some are in the Painted Desert. These
dune "fields," if you can call them that, are actually quite small, although because
of tight framing they may appear deceivingly large in these photographs.
